Back to Wisconsin for Jodi’s Wedding!

Baby carrying my man, who would not leave the plastic golf club in the car!

It was a whirlwind weekend, but I wanted to fly back to Wisconsin for my cousin's wedding. The opportunity was perfect to see and visit with family all night long. Not to mention that my kids got to hang with my best friend while Paul and I took a few twirls on the dance floor.  I was traveling back with our 1.5 year old alone on the plane. I totally embrace traveling alone with them, and he was an awesome guy on the plane.

Matching Shoes with the Tot – perfect for running through the airport!

However, we got stranded in Detroit. I always fly United because of award status and the simple fact that if I get stranded in Chicago, I'm relatively close to home.  I can rent a car, take a bus, or call for help. Detroit... that's another problem. Massive lake Michigan separates me from my destination when I get stranded in Detroit - and that's not easily forged.  So, as I waited for my plane - they informed us that the pilot called in sick - they were sure they would find another one.   The gate to the Appleton (ATW) flight leaving in 15 minutes was at the other side of the airport - and it would be difficult to get to quickly with a 30lb toddler in my Tula Carrier. So, I waited and had faith that they would find another pilot. Nope. Nope. Ten minutes later - canceled with a hotel voucher.  Urugh! Not ideal.  I begged the gate agent to get me to anywhere in Wisconsin: Madison, Milwaukee, Iron Mt, Appleton - anywhere.  He took pity on my child situation and while he couldn't switch me at his gate, he said "Run with me..."  So we ran to the Milwaukee flight that was boarding!  He jumped behind the counter and worked some magic to get me on that flight. I was SO grateful!  Cheers to the helpers. Look for the helpers helping.

Gorgeous bride and her Dad waiting to walk down the isle!

So, I made it to Milwaukee late in the evening, and Paul and my dad came to get me at midnight. I bought a Starbucks and we hit the road. I was energized and took over driving for the last leg and we made it safely to Green Bay!

Yaaaaas. This is the dream dessert!

Celebrating in style!

The wedding festivities began the next morning. The day was perfect. A cool Wisconsin spring afternoon perfect for a gorgeous and meaningful wedding at Heritage Hill State Park in Wisconsin. It was so awesome to see my Uncle Dale walk Jodi down the isle. From the depths of complications with knee surgery, he was walking her down - which deserved a standing ovation! It was awesome. The food and company were great - and dessert was one of my favorites - a Dairy Queen Dilly Bar! Simple local flavor = perfection.

The weekend went by quickly, and we soon were boarding our plan back to Pittsburgh. I am thrilled I was able to pack another whirlwind trip into my calendar! Thank you for the invitation, and cheers to a happy and beautiful marriage!

So thankful for family, and Wisconsin!
