Cincinnati Weekend Trip
The weekend before match was one of the rare weekends that the whole family was free! Paul didn’t have in house call or cardiac call. I had the weekend off preparing to enter my emergency room rotation. The boys were relatively well rested and Sophia wasn’t traveling. So we quickly packed up the car to visit friends in Cincinnati! It’s too bad we couldn’t have pulled this trip off earlier while Dave was still in the city, but nonetheless we were excited for the weekend adventure.
We rolled in late Friday night and got everyone settled into the home of our gracious hosts: Jay and Perry! Jay, Perry and I have been close friends since high school I imagine… ever since Jay migrated over to Seymour from Nichols saying “you can take Jay out of Nichols, but you cannot take the Nichols out of Jay.” Perry and I rode the same bus as country kids. We all had a great time running around Seymour with my brother’s friend group enjoying our endless energy, creatively, youth and questionably brewed wines.
Throughout the years we have enjoyed many adventures together, in Houghton visiting Joel, finding Jay and Perry in Florida, connecting them out in Denver and running into each other in various places across the United States. It is never a dull vacation when we all get together – its too bad we didn’t have Curt and Deb with us this time!
In Cincinnati we went to the zoo, toured the local microbreweries, went to Kentucky and checked out the downtown ! True friendship spans cities, states, and of course time. It was wonderful to catch up, create new memories and dream of the next adventure.
I am so grateful to Jay and Perry for hosting us! Hope we see you in Pittsburgh!! ;)
