Well after a dry run we decided to try the real deal on for size. We loaded up the Pilot and went off into the woods. Like any good camping trip we started with a stop at McDonalds - haha, and I was changing my little guy's epic blowout in the grass near the parking lot... and managed to step in it, in my Tom's. It was truly an epic start to the trip.

Once we got to the park we scrambled for an open camping spot - it was unclear how to pick a spot and pay for it since it was "semi-honor system" and yet you could book online in advance. After much confusion, we simply went for it and ran to the office in the morning to pay our dues after claiming an open spot. Paul did much of the set up while we got the boys in PJs and cribs up!  Our family tent was super nice - I love the screened in front area so the kids could hang out and stay clean while we are watching them from the dangers of the campfire.  The tent is big enough to fit a blow up Queen mattress, a pack and play (probably two), and a small toddler cot (Regalo Portable Toddler Bed), with some extra room to bounce around and put backpacks full of clothes.

We also had the Au pair headquarters tent:

This worked out well, it fits a blow up Queen bed and keep everything dry even with some major morning dew! Overall our camping set up was clutch. We also used the toddler camping high chair (Summer Infant Pop and Sit Portable Booster) to help contain the tot. I highly recommend, it's small, portable and awesome. (Side note, we also use this in our basement for portable eating set ups when we want to hang out on the couch and eat dinner!)

Okay, enough about the set up - more about the adventure!  The next day we went to check out the sand beach and decided to rent some kayaks.  It was awesome. We shared a double and had the little man in the middle - who started become more and more water adventurous as the ride continued - and my husband had our big man who quickly tired of the activity and had to be held over with fruit snacks - haha!

That night we cooked burgers, brats (from Maplewood Meats!), veggie burgers, and roasted potatoes over the campfire. The food turned out great, despite the excessive campfire smoke from wet wood. We roasted marshmallows and attempted to get the kids to sleep - it was a process, but we finally all crawled in bed for a night of ZERO rest. The next morning we picked up and head back home to try to recover from camping. It was a blast, but we were spent - no one sleeps in the woods haha - especially the toddlers.
